A Tricky thing called Motive

Motive is tricky because in one hand, it is everything, it’s the reason why we do what we do; and yet, if one wants to live peacefully, and it is the very thing that should not be questioned; the very thing that should not be dug out of a person.

To question motive would be to open Pandora’s Box, it invites prejudice from all sides, it opens ample opportunity to create fights, and people would just judge each other, in fact it’s the very thing that gets judged, motive.

If Lord Ram questioned Bharata’s mother as to why he is being banished to live in a jungle during the day he was supposed to be king and did not respect the queen’s wishes, then fights would have ensued in the household, sure, Ram would have easily become the king, but god knows what would have happened then, it might create enmity between the four brothers, the four queens; there would be a lot of tension in the household, everyone would just wonder what is the queen’s next motive and Lord Ram wouldn’t be what he is considered to be now.

To a person who is judgmental, to him motive will never show it self, and yet the judgmental person forces it open because he cant help it, he needs to judge, without knowing the good and the bad he cannot live, and like Pandora’s Box it spreads evil everywhere.

To a person who has gone beyond being judgmental, to a person who observes, to him motive will definitely show itself, but for him, it matters not. For the observer to have a motive is to be a human being, whether it is a good motive or a bad one, it doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter because for him nothing is good or bad, he knows that everything is one, he knows that everything is perfect, he knows that nothing lasts for ever, he knows the Truth; the Truth that has set him free from the world of duality. He sees the motive behind everything, and yet he knows that everything comes from nothing and will eventually dissolve into nothing-ness.

It is not easy for us to understand this person who has gone beyond duality, since we are “trapped” in this world of duality, and know what is beyond duality probably theoretically, but trying to understand just what kind of person He is would be a pretty good exercise.

A Brand New Memory of the Past

The following is excerpts from Daniel Goleman’s book, Social Intelligence, take it as a food (or a snack rather) for your thought:

“Our memories are in part reconstructions. Whenever we retrieve a memory, the brain rewrites it a bit, updating the past according to our present concerns and understanding. At the cellular level, LeDoux explains, retrieving a memory means it will be “reconsolidated,” slightly altered chemically by a new protein synthesis that will help store it anew after being updated.

Thus each time we bring a memory to mind, we adjust its very chemistry: the next time we retrieve it, that memory will come up as we last modified it. The specifics of the new consolidation depend on what we learn as we recall it. If we merely have a flare-up of the same fear, we deepen our fearfulness.”

This explains why when you think of your first crush or something stupid you did when you were still at school, you started laughing, while during that time when you were actually experiencing it, it wasn’t so funny.

Now the fact that you can readjust your memory, goes to show that you don’t have to live with your past fear, or phobias. Given this little detail, you can evidently recall your fearful memories, and instead of reacting to it with the same type of fear, calm yourself down in the face of your fear that has just surfaced, this will in turn modify your fearful memory as something not as fearful as before, and gradually, the more you allow that same fear to surface, the more modified it will get (as long as you allow it to modify, remember one important point, modifying the memory is the work of the conscious mind, therefore choice is definitely yours, you can either modify it to become something more fearful or as something less fearful), the less fearful it will be. This the reason why rational knowledge, common sense and a positive perception on things are very important as we grow up and move on in this world…simply because it helps us…well….move on!

“Pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it, and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”-Marcus Aurelius

A Video Game Called Life

Everything that is happening is happening now at this very moment. Everything that you would like to happen is already happening. The past, the present, the future are all happening at the same “time” (like time actually exists). Everything that is supposed to happen and that is not suppose to happen is happening right now at this very moment. It may not have manifested itself in your physical reality, but it is happening right now at this very moment. The you owning a Ferrari and a Beverly Hills mansion are already there. It is currently riding and zooming through out the neighborhood and getting second looks from everyone around.

What we are doing currently in this life is nothing but moving from one dimension to another, a dimension that we have called upon and have created. There is a dimension of you owning a Ferrari and having a big mansion and a 7 figure income. There is also a dimension of you broke, homeless and standing on top of the building attempting suicide. These are what I mean by dimensions. Both of these scenarios can happen to you, it is up to you to decide which dimension you want to go to, you are after all the creator of your dimension, there fore the joystick is in your hands, should you choose to win the game or decide “Game Over”.

Life is a video game, where you are the controller. In the video game that you currently play, it is already programmed for you to allow the character to move every which way, it can move in that way because it has been programmed, everything that you are witnessing in your television when you play that game has already been programmed by the geek sitting in front of his computer somewhere in silicon valley. Before it has even manifested it self in your tv, it has already existed; the character being killed by the monster, it has already exist, the question is, are you going to allow it to manifest? The character winning points and going to a bonus stage already exist, THE BONUS STAGE ALREADY EXIST, it is up to you whether you want to work on getting there and manifesting it to your tv screen.

Choice is yours, my friend, the game can end by the monster killing your character, or by you winning the game through out. Either ways, you will finally return to reality, a reality where you don’t die, where you are eternal; whether you win or loose, it hardly matters. What matters is whether you had fun experiencing it or not.
